We're delighted to announce that we’ve been named Bespoke Furniture Retailer of the Year at the South England Prestige Awards 2026/27. It's our second win in a row, after first receiving the title in 2025/26, and we're still smiling about it.

Being shortlisted again, and then selected as the winner for a second consecutive year, is a proud moment for a small, independent workshop like ours. It reflects another year of conversations, carefully considered designs and handmade furniture finding its place in our clients' homes. Find out more about the South England Prestige Awards.

Furniture that starts with a conversation

Every piece we make begins with listening. Before any timber is chosen, we want to understand the room, how you use it and how you would like it to feel. Some clients arrive with detailed sketches. Others simply know that an alcove has never quite worked, or that the family has outgrown its dining table. Both are a good place to start.

We can visit to measure the space, or work from your photos and measurements if that is easier, bringing wood samples so you can see and feel the options. Before we quote, we create a free 3D model of your design, so proportions, storage and details can be adjusted while changes are still easy.

From first enquiry to installation, you work directly with the person making your furniture, and you are always welcome to visit the workshop while your piece takes shape. That is what bespoke furniture means to us: not simply filling a space, but making something that fits the way you live.

Handmade in Surrey from sustainably sourced hardwoods

Everything we make is handmade at our workshop at Smithbrook Kilns in Cranleigh, using solid hardwoods sourced from trusted suppliers in Surrey, Sussex and South London. Gordon first learned woodworking alongside his grandad in Scotland, and that respect for the material still shapes how we work today.

We offer 16 timber species, from oak and walnut to spalted beech and olive ash, and can source others on request. Each has its own colour, grain and character, which is why we always encourage clients to see samples in person. If you are weighing up the options, our guide to choosing the best wood for handmade furniture explains the differences.

Solid timber, made by hand and given a finish suited to how the piece will be used, is furniture that can be cared for, refinished and enjoyed for decades rather than replaced.

Recent commissions

A fitted home office in Ascot

For a home office in Ascot, we designed the desk, storage and shelving as one scheme in European oak. A 3m desk with a shaped front edge runs between two filing pedestals, with a cable tray beneath to keep wires out of sight. Above, two natural-edge floating shelves are matched to the desk, with LED lighting set beneath. You can see more of our fitted home office furniture.

Oak bedroom furniture in Ascot

This bedroom commission brings together two oak chests of drawers, curved open shelving at one end and a matching tall cupboard, all made to sit together along one wall. The rounded shelving softens the corner beside the doorway, while the drawers and cupboard give everyday storage without crowding the room. Explore our bespoke bedroom furniture.

A walnut river table

Some commissions are led by the timber itself. This walnut river table pairs live-edge boards with a dark teal river, so every knot, split and change of colour becomes part of the design. No two boards are ever alike, so no two tables are either. Discover more of our solid wood dining tables.

Thank you to our clients

None of this would be possible without the people who commission our furniture. Thank you to every client who has invited us into their home, trusted us with an awkward alcove or a family dining table, recommended us to friends or taken the time to leave a review.

Whether you visited the workshop to see your boards in person or followed your piece through photos and 3D models, your trust is what we value most. This recognition is as much yours as it is ours.

Looking ahead

We will keep doing what we love: listening closely, choosing timber with care and making furniture by hand to suit the homes it lives in. If you are planning something for your own home in Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire or elsewhere in the South of England, we would love to hear about it. Request a free quote and, as always, we will start with a conversation.
